  • Steep slopes that require Erosion Control Blankets
  • Airports: For areas outside of jet blast – won’t allow soils to blow prior to germination.
  • Stock-piled topsoils: Keeps soil in place for up to one year; non-seeded applications.
  • Golf Course Construction: Around sprinkler heads, greens and on the sides of sand bunkers.

Engineered Fibre Matrix (EFM) is an erosion control system where fibres are joined together by mineral and adhesive binders to create a continuous, 3-dimensional erosion control blanket, which grips to the soil surface. It delivers superior performance and sustainable results in an easy-to-apply and cost effective solution.

When applied correctly by professional hydroseeding contractors, EFM’s performance is equal or superior to all biodegradable erosion control blankets and can be swiftly applied using OBL’s hydroseeding equipment.

Because EFM products are hydraulically applied in the same way that hydroseeding is carried out, the technique requires far less ground preparation and labour than roll out erosion control systems. This simplifies the process and makes it far more cost effective.

The EFM fibres are generally elongated and coarser than the regular mulch used in hydroseeding. The adhesive qualities are usually achieved using a vegetable based product which is mixed with a poly-acyrlamide or synthetic fibre, while the fertiliser based mineral fibres cause the product to bind. EFM is environmentally safe – it is non-toxic, contains 100% recycled wood fibres and is 100% biodegradable.

Once dry EFM can withstand up to six inches of rain per hour, high winds, and can stay in place until vegetation is established.
